I find this attitude dismissive. It's easy for those of us who are very successful financially to internalize an attitude that we got wealth because we deserve it, because we tried hard. It's nice to believe the things which allow us to pat ourselves on the back and not need to be bothered with anything like "research" or "trying it out."
