Sorry to go off topic, but I've been waiting a thread about weird stuff found on gmaps for a long time.

Does anyone know what is this geological formation (26.621298, 55.490281) and why it looks like a crater? Didn't find any reference to it (there could be something in Farsi, though)

This is called a salt dome. It seems this one in particular is called the "Qeshm salt dome".

I get a forest on google maps with these coordinates.

He means the circular dark area you see when you zoom out.

the island is Qeshm, and it's a unesco site.

Frustratingly I can't find any particular info about that bit, unless it's what's called stars valley.
