That's an interesting point. I wonder to what extent it is a zero-sum game in terms of people's attention and capacity to care about problems. I wonder if there were less attention on the sexism problem in the US whether Americans would really turn to other problems or would their attention be caught by, say celebrity news or something useless. I suppose it's somewhere in the middle like most things.
