Good point. Also learning about gender bias might also then translate to quicker understanding in terms of other biases, like biases the apu8812 is pointing out. People who tend to move towards a progressive attitude in one aspect (like sexism) tend to then adopt more progressive attitude in other social attitudes it seems.
