They are made in and shipped from Canada. I doubt they are export-controlled, but I would email them. They were quite responsive to most of my inquires. Just don't ask when they might implement features. I'm still waiting on some stuff that are listed on the 2 year old spec sheet as "*features (that) are fully supported in the camera's hardware, but are not yet supported in software. They will be added in a free software update after the camera's initial release."
