Spot on.

You have just outlined the double-speak of the SV technocracy, which have imposed these hidden codes on those that they disagree with. Mind you that the media has now amplified this and have used all of this to create a new enemy called Richard Stallman. As long as this appalling cancel-culture behaviour stops, he certainly won't be the last one to fall victim to these purity tests.

Absolutely hypocritical indeed.

from reading just this comment, i would have assumed that stallman was stripped of all his land and titles and made to starve under a bridge.

what really happened was that he went from holding leadership positions in three prominent institutions to just one. it's easy to have strong feelings about these issues, but let's try to keep things in perspective.

He pretty much was / is. He lived at MIT, his life’s work was GNU and the FSF. All three were taken away, and more than that - people were excited and driven to do this.

He’s had to move, he’s lost all his potions, etc.

There was very little discourse and punishment was swift. That’s not really the way justice should be served. This man (RMS), essentially spent his life fighting for others. He was thrown to the wolves without discussion.

stallman is still the head of the GNU project.
That may not be the case...

We don’t know if it’s true but:

In either case, to your comment, he was stripped of his life. To say otherwise is disingenuous.

It’d be like saying: I took your house and job, but left you the car.

That’d still be striping you of land and title (to your comment)

currently, https://stallman.org/ says:

> I continue to be the Chief GNUisance of the GNU Project. I do not intend to stop any time soon.

apparently the site was previously defaced by an FSF employee.

Apparently to zero, and if we're to believe the article, he's been made to starve under the bridge too (if I'm to believe the countless HN threads about homelessness in the US, this is how being homeless looks like).
Unless something has changed recently, stallman is still the head of the GNU project (https://www.fudzilla.com/news/49493-richard-stallman-says-i-...).

and according to stallman's personal site, he's found interim housing (https://stallman.org/).

That's both good news. Thanks for the update.
Food is relatively accessible in the US for everyone but there are of course difficulties for people who need help knowing about the resources available to them or practical difficulties in taking advantage of those resources (lack of transportation, scheduling difficulties with children or one or more jobs, etc.)

Accommodations underneath bridges and even worse places for our homeless are unfortunately a widespread issue in the US.

He was fired for taking an unpopular stance about a very subjective topic in a private mailing list. He isn't a law maker or a sociologist. He is a technologist. He isn't obliged to have a socially correct opinion.

You are right. Let's try to keep things in perspective.

He lost his job from this. It is a big deal.
Keeping things in perspective, do you really believe what is happening now isn't going to ruin Stallman's life?
> You have just outlined the double-speak of the SV technocracy

It's not just them, this seems to be a far leftist direction in general.
