Downloading same content directly, often at higher quality, is just easier and faster.
So you don't watch "broadcast TV", but you do watch..TV shows, yes?
TV/cable is a transmission medium, TV shows are content. Netflix/amazon/dvd/bd boxsets/pirate trackers are alternative sources of content. Unlike TV, they all have advantage of you being in the driver seat of your own attention.
Fair enough, but I think it's clear quite a few comments are interpreting the question to encompass even spending time on the content.
