There was a huge lumber glut from trees killed by bark beetles during a number of warmer winters where the beetles did not freeze to death. The killed trees had to all be harvested ASAP - or they would rot there. China bought a lot of these and the others depressed the wood market. Now these trees are gone and supply is short. Then there are the wood cartels = happy as clams who want to sell their own and offer low prices at their sawmills. The home building public bears these prices. Needs an investigation by Congress or FTC or whoever deals in this arena?
