This pattern keeps happening in the ethernet switching space: vendors get sick of price increases by the major merchant silicon vendors, start considering new products and startups. Merchant silicon vendors lower prices to wipe out startups. Startups get bought out by Broadcom/Marvell/... The large merchant silicon vendors increase prices again due to a lack of competition. Somehow I don't think Amazon is going to be the one to break this repeating cycle for more than an iteration or so.
