Ask HN: Avoid burn out from doing sideproject on weekends

Dear HN,

I am very passionate about building for internet and most of my experience lies on front-end development but I want to focus on working on my side projects as an indie hacker so I thought about switching to technical support role or similar things as a day job and work on side projects on weekends, so I won't feel burn out doing development all week. I am new to doing tech support and have no idea if this is good plan(It doesn't sound secure choice to me!). Do share your thoughts, Thanks!

Take time off from the side-project, whenever necessary.

Sometimes, I will put that side-project away for an extended break in the region of weeks, or even months, before 'the side-project battery is recharged enough to continue'.

[Come on, surely you have more than one side-project on your todo-list if you can't find a non-development task or two.]

What I meant is whether its a good idea to switch career onto tech support so that I can work on dev side-projects on weekends rather than working as a dev on weekdays and again do coding on weekends.

Just do what you love. If it does not make you feel happy, do something else. You are at the exploratory phase - don't commit too early if you are not truly deeply interested in those. It's indeed a key to win a game.

Just leave the weekend for mountain biking and outdoor sports.

only do one side project. not more.

If you're tired, rest. Developing programs and websites are very taxing work, especially on your mental state. I suggest you do some outdoor activities, unwind and don't think about anything, enjoy.
