(Speaking as someone who's suffered through Russian literature at school, and is no stranger to some weird Russian literature-related humour).

According to Glenn Seaborg's memoirs, his family's name was something like "Sjoborg" before changed by US immigration. My impression is that the family was not particularly distinguished, as APG's second wife's family was said to be. Still, curious to imagine an American Nobelist having Pushkin as an mth cousin n times removed.
