Noticed they sign you out if using Spotify in a country other than the one you signed up with. Got auto signed out because I tunneled to London with my VPN and launched the app. I worked around that by doing split tunneling, and excluded Spotify from using the VPN connection.
I fit this profile but have not observed this behavior. Did you try just signing in again?
You won't be able to sign in until you change the IP address to match the account's origin country. And this annoying dance is to be expected at least every couple of weeks.
They definitely don’t do this.
Yeah they do, I got signed out while on holiday in the US because I spent more than 3 weeks out of my home country. Premium by the way.
They do it for non-premium accounts. Premium members can use it outside their country.

No, Apple's Family Sharing goes far beyond music, which is probably more uncomfortable for people. Others being able to see the apps and books you've downloaded is generally more unfomfortable than sharing a location with Spotify.

There's a similar thing going on with Amazon Prime Video vs Netflix, because sharing a Prime password means others can see what you've bought.

Is this actually the case if the person you add is an adult? I can’t see anything about the people on my family plan like that - note this is with purchase sharing off though

That's with purchase sharing enabled. Otherwise, there is no shared billing for apps when using iCloud family.
I’ve never been prompted despite being on a family plan from the US for years now and the article is from 2019. Strange. Maybe due to EU regulations?

Someone invited me and I sometimes use it for more obscure stuff that isn’t on Apple Music but if they ever forced this on me I’d just switch over full time to Apple Music and not think too much about it.

I’ve found it’s easier (and cheaper) to use a cracked Spotify app.
