There are multiple factors to take into account. It’s possible that studies may show this but you must also consider reduced stress and reduced cortisone due to cannabis use and how that might actually increase the counts for example. Also was it sativa or indica? Indica reduces motility - of course.

Life is the most complex software. :)

Or it could be that

“An intense but short-term exposure to cannabis vapor lowered sperm counts and slowed sperm movement, or motility, not only in the directly exposed male mice but also in their sons. The Washington State University study, published in the journal Toxicological Sciences, builds on other human and animal studies, showing that cannabis can impede male reproductive function. The current study uses more controlled circumstances than human studies, which often have to rely on surveys…”

There are many side-effects from use of recreational drugs: physical, mental, social, financial, etc.. This is just more scientific evidence for the level of one of the physical side-effects from just one of the milder self-medications certain people choose.

If you want to play whack-a-mole what-aboutism to somehow intellectually justify a particular self-medication to yourself or others, you’ll be busy for a long, long time. Let the study speak for itself. You pays your money (or your life, or the lives of your friends, family and society), and makes your choice. But it should be an informed choice, at least.
