I’ve been working in the infosec industry for some time now. I think that most of my peers are either aware of this practice, and see themselves as powerless or openly criticizing this issue. The criticism happens mostly inside of closed rooms and segregated areas (like Twitter bubbles).
The practice itself doesn’t qualify as a dark pattern though.
