I am just disgusted by these reckless people, who are organizing in the middle of pandemic. There are thousands of people dying from COVID every day. This announcement comes in the middle of a more vurilent COVID variants. Even Dr Fauci is encouraging everyone to exercise caution. And these people are orgainizing in person conference putting everyone's life at risk.
I might have agreed 4 weeks ago, but the infection numbers keep going down towards a long tail despite everybody giving up on precautions for the last 4 weeks, an hospitalization is going down faster.

Omicron was more virulent, but it burned out pretty quickly.

It’s been here. Two weeks ago it was 10-20% of new infections. Now it’s half, but the new infections is down 20% over the last two weeks. Compare to Omicron in a similar time frame - Say December 7 to 21. Entirely different situation
New infections being down 20% over last week is not particularly useful. If 15 out of 100 % (10-20%) infections were BA.2 2 weeks ago, and if it is 40 out of 80 today(half after 20% down). It shows that BA.2 is more than doubling every 2 weeks. Slower than Omicron, but we have a new wave incoming.
