Iirc, it was Edison who said something along the lines "stealing is common in business, but I know how to steal." So Google is just whining about competition here, and probably appealing to adults (the gov) to resolve the "unfairness" in their favor.
Is google cheating when you search for something and it shows you results it scraped from a third-party source (e.g. song lyrics)? How is that different?
Old news, not sure why it's on HN now. That said, I remember being very surprised how little flak Microsoft got for such blatant cheating imo. Even this article is surprisingly being nice to Microsoft....I guess they wanted to retain their access to Bing execs, and didn't want to criticize them too harshly.
