I am related to the NYT writer. His name was Carr Van Anda and he was a really interesting guy. He was fluent in hieroglyphics and supposedly corrected a mathematical error of Einstein’s. I have a copy of his article on the Titanic sinking which was a story he was the first to cover.
realistically the title should be "who we overlooked in the story of finding king tut's tomb", but then no one would read it
I only noticed this because of the title change. I would not have read it or been interested with the previous title, which was far too clickbaity.
