It doesn't matter, what matters is how windows worked with the drivers. And the issue remains: the hardware companies and device driver authors won't sufficiently help Linux with compatibility.

When large countries (China has sort of woken up to this) realize that Linux is a fundamental national security defense, and properly legitimizes and funds it (IMO EU should be funding Linux development on the order of 2-10 billion per year, since it is a practical economic/cultural weapon against US/Apple/Windows/Google OS supremacy as well as a defense by having your own OS infrastructure to securely operate),

Anyway, if that happened, so much good stuff on linux desktop would happen, but alas, .... no.

I knew that piece of crap I've been storing in a closet for the past 7 years would come useful someday.
