I always thought the power of last.fm is underused. For me, it is not for reviewing my top music and showing it in social media badges or doing useless analysis and visualization on my music history data. I'm not even using their recommendations engine!

Apart from musically connecting with people, there is a wealth of hidden possibilities in there (for the next 20 years !). I will share two:

- if you find a certain obscure song brilliant, you can find people who listen to it a lot, convert their top loved tracks to a streaming playlist (+ filter it by genre) and maybe find some completely unrelated gems!

- if you are in "explorer mode" or tired of hearing songs you already know on playlists (like spotify's discover weekly) you can filter playlists to only show artists or tracks you did not listen to in the last x months (and similar filters.)

You can't do this with discogs, or musicbrainz.

Do you have any last.fm hacks, hackers ?
