If pictorial cartography is your thing, this guy is hand-drawing exquisite contemporary maps:
Hmm, I wonder if anyone is drawing paleo pictorial cartography? I've a vague recollection of a paleoglobe with fossil sites marked by... skulls? Biomes and species and geography are usually presented separately in educational graphics. I could be neat to have a pictorial map of say Pangea, illustrated with flora and fauna. Or more ambitiously, a history of life set of pictorial paleoglobes.
