I believe remote work rate will be higher than the pandemic but eventually, most companies will demand most of their workers back to the office.
Companies can demand all they want, but unless the number of workers increases they might not have the power to enforce things. If the boomers stay out of the workforce, those jobs have to be filled or surrendered. I thought the whole thing re boomers was that they were a demographic bulge that was followed by a shortfall. That lack gives the workers a bit more leverage than previously.

It’s all up to those workers. Give in or not as it’s your career and life. We’ve seen that wfh works. And if companies keep prattling on about the office, they should stfu about the environment or worker satisfaction. Sux to be them if they build palaces they can’t fill.

Governments have been trying to soften the shortfall by ramping up immigration to ever higher levels.
