Interesting title. Hopefully a subject matter expert can chime in to unpack the experimental design and findings. Some things to consider: While biorxiv is a preprint host, it is managed by CSHL and the authors are from Mount Sinai which is a top institution, particularly in medical research.

Just a pet theory, but I have been wondering if part of the strict anti-Covid policy in China had something to do with a finding similar to this. Yes, I know it was also based on their healthcare system capacity, autocratic control, etc. and now the lockdowns are presumably being lifted.
