Very interesting read. This is the first time I know about him but seems he was a tortured soul living between a disenchanted reality, the inability to change anything, an escape to nothing and a curse of long life.
I find this article very trivializing with regards to his views and wonder why this ends up on the HN front page.

In his writings he very much wrote about races, deemed the Jews to be ‘destructive‘ and aspired a German state where Jews could not be German [0] (German source, but throwing it at deepl should give you an understanding). He was totally antidemocratic, racist and nationalist and it is no coincidence Nazis admire(d) him as mentor.

Of course you can look with different perspectives at his life and works, but disagreeing with Hitler and Nazis in their most extreme views and intentions and having some doubts with regards to their ruling while serving them in higher positions in my opinion is not enough to trivialize his role in such a manner, especially not in such a short fragmentary way.
