I say this as a (former? recovering?) Musk fan and Tesla owner: Thank heavens! His involvement in twitter, simply the fact that he looked at all the possibilities of things he could spend his time on and said "this right here", has boggled my mind.
But, on the other hand, it also makes me wonder if Tesla and SpaceX might not be better off with him being distracted by Twitter, if this is the sort of decision making he is doing now...
As an admirer of Elon Musk and a soon-to-be Tesla owner, I'm bitterly disappointed to observe Twitter returning to government control and sway from the mainstream media. I had naively assumed that this would be a social platform where the government could not flex its financial muscles to suppress dissent. Going forward, it appears that decentralization is the only viable choice for a democratic internet, and Twitter is in a tough spot, with little hope of shifting away from advertisement to a payment-based model without Elon's guidance.
