I find that in the design phase, copying is useful because it’s easier to intuit what you don’t like than what you do like.

But it’s even more important to do a second round of critically asking yourself, “do we REALLY need this”?

Just because you copy Amazon doesn’t mean you have engineering resources like Amazon :)
