Oh yes. There are many alternatives. I've also emailed myself in the past. It often requires additional taps on the iPhone before getting to the actual writing (create a new email, choose address, etc). Shortcuts can help here, but I wanted a little additional freedom to introduce lightweight org mode markup, a toolbar, etc.
