The rest of that intro then lists a bunch of massive changes ending in "Hm. Maybe it's worth taking a closer look after all."
I suppose I read the article strictly through the lens of an enterprise developer. The only thing that I can see that would apply to my day-to-day work is the named captures in regular expressions:

Everything else is just not applicable really or just meh.
I'd love to know what percentage of java shops are still stuck on Java 8.
