Can always up the twixt difficulty by adding conditional patterns[8][9]. Bit easier than designing a unique rubix cube.
Battle of the 2d tiling concept[0][2]; but a VR 3d would require additional foor/ceiling perspective.
Although really depends on how one define's an 8x8 chess board relative to what's considered twisty. ( lambda calc, fourier transform, turing complete spreadsheet, etc. )[3][4], execution / code path [5], language garbage collection[6].
