Term 'petrodollar' (or petrodollar recycling) refers to a phenomenon where oil and gas sellers invest the money they received back to the country that bought it. When US or Europe buy oil and gas, most of that money flows immediate back as that money is reinvested into their economies.

Total is not going to invest the money in to China creating demand for yuan. Total instantly sells the yuan it received, and no additional demand for yuan is created.
