Fabulous essay. I highly recommend you read it in its entirety.

And make sure to read the footnote at the bottom too. I agree with Jeremy that the ability of large AI models to mimic any writing style "will make certain people mad."

Uneasy about what? Is it really more important to discern that a text was generated or conceived, instead of reading the text and evaluating the ideas put forward?

Here is 'the world according to a stochastic langauge box':

Of course, that is the essence of the existence of an LLM. But it is a ridicolous proposition for a willful sentient immersed in reality.
