I found Never Let Me Go to be rather blunt and somewhat heavy handed, the overall premise was just a bit to black and white and it raised no conflict in me. He does use it well and is quite good on the emotional aspects but the lack of that personal conflict leaves it feeling like garden variety drama albeit well written drama. Got a copy of Remains of the Day a couple days ago and it feels like it will be much of the same but I think the premise has more room for those grey areas which raise conflict in the reader and leave us torn between desire and need, the human.
