This reminds me that they should bring back Monty Python & The Quest for the Holy Grail the videogame for iPad: http://www.giantbomb.com/monty-python-the-quest-for-the-holy....

EDIT: A kind word of warning: the app is ~1GB. Make sure you have the space for it.

"Syncs with your Blu-Ray" - i wonder how they are achieving this?
Bluray discs can contain Java software with access to a full TCP/IP stack. Netflix used to send out Blurays containing an app to use their streaming service on the PS3, and it worked in most internet-connected set-top Bluray players. My guess is they're having the user run the app on the bluray, give some kind of ID credentials associated with the session in the iPad app, and once they are paired, they have the bluray app play the movie, and for as long as they are paired, intermittently send its state (position and playing status) to their server, which in turn passes it on to the iPad app, which responds accordingly.
Totally random first-thought possibility but could the app implement something similar to Shazam (can't remember if that's the app's name or not - the one that listens to songs and identifies them) to "listen" to something and recognize what time in the movie it is at?
According to the description, the app directs the bluray player to go to the scenes you are looking at and it has to be over wifi. I'm quite curious about this (not sure if I'm curious enough to buy the BD when I already own the DVD, though).
the help page says that the ipad and blu-ray player need to be on the same wifi, and the blu-ray needs to be hooked up to the internet. I would presume that they're using some internet-accessible service not wholly dissimilar from a NAT traversal to establish the connection. example:

1. ipad connects to the service over the internet from some ip address, tells the service its local ip (or mac address or something). 2. blu-ray player connects to same service from the same ip, asking for the local address of the ipad coming from that internet ip address. 3. profit.

there are some wrinkles there, but i imagine that's the basic idea.

Is this based off anything, or pure speculation?
like i said, this is speculation based on the information cited from the help page. i think you're being downvoted because I believe i was pretty clear about it, saying things like "i imagine that's the basic idea."
Honest question. Why am I being downvoted?
