Walking past the Gordon street entrance to Glasgow Queen street on a Saturday night will make you question whether any event that could be described as an "Enlightenment" ever occured. Jokes aside I look forward to reading the doc in more detail once I am off work.
The article presents (among other things) how Hume, as a Scottish(!) Enlightenment thinker, sets himself apart from the English Whig History.
Hume's account of the transition from feudalism to modernity seems to me to be more realistic than the Whig Triumph History.
