It seems that the makers of humanity’s most terrible weapons realized after the fact that they should not have done so. I urge the smart, capable people of this generation to think ahead and refrain from making this generation’s terrible weapons. Those are probably AI powered killing machines. Building them will create a terrifying future we won’t want our children to live in. Let’s not make them in the first place.
Note that this is with the benefit of a past where the Germans didn’t get the bomb, and we know they probably wouldn’t before the end of the war. That was no guarantee to these men.

In a past where the Germans (or even Soviets, possibly) get the bomb first, you could well have seen these scientists thinking “if only I had worked on that program”.

AI has the ability to automate all of the leadership of this planet. Do that instead.
