If I wanted airpods, except for my android, what would I want? Airpods? I have heard many happy user reports about em but not sure if there's a better option for the android user.
Normal AirPods (not the Pro) work fine as a standard bluetooth audio device. I believe the Pro also work but you lose the UI to configure noise cancelling/etc.
