It's kinda wild how different policies and cultures can be across countries.
That information is FOIAble in the US, and there are projects that seek to build a public DB out of the respones for those requests.
I think NI is the outlier here. I am almost certain that if there was a multi-decade conflict where police officers were _directly targeted_ for assassination, there would be limits on access to this data in the US as well.
