Ireland has a long, intereesting history in the tech space - before YC, there were a ton of startup incubation strategies occuring in silicon valley - and the irish national tech council or whatever they were called were luring tech companies to ireland... (recall Delorian Motor Cars)

Many FAANGS have built out there - and I can only assume that the laws re data in .ie are likely "bribable" and given its status in basically 5-eyes - I would assume ireland is a privacy nightmare when you get down to brass tacks.

I am from Ireland.

(1) There is no "irish national tech council"

(2) Delorian Motor Car was based in the North of Ireland which is a part of the United Kingdom

(3) FAANGS built here because of tax breaks, the hard work of the IDA (https://www.idaireland.com/), educated population, English speaking, part of the EU, etc.

(4) Here is the Data Protection Act from 2018 https://www.irishstatutebook.ie/eli/2018/act/7/enacted/en/ht... it's actually a good law and annoys Big Tech companies as does EU law like GDPR

(5) Saying Ireland "its status in basically 5-eyes" is one of the most politically ignorant things I've heard in a while.

(6) "I would assume ireland is a privacy nightmare when you get down to brass tacks." – again, idiotic statement – you know nothing about this country.
