It became frustrating to use google after trying stuff like bing chat and ChatGPT4 that does the search for you. I don't have to think about how to write the correct query. Those are becoming better extensions of the mind than google search.
Would this have been a higher raise amount if the "google has no moat, and neither does anyone else" leak hadn't happened?

Surely personal data is again the moat and we should all be saving our chats privately so some trusted next gen LLM can pin point any holes in our thinking later. I just wonder after using pplx so much myself if we will regret giving any for-profit chatbots that much sway over us. All those compute credits free users are burning through now will have to be recouped at 10x VC expected rate.

Surprised this isn’t making more noise on HN. Since getting Perplexity premium, I now barely ever use Google at all. Perplexity solves all my use cases better in most every way.

I still find ChatGPT to be much better at searching based on an image, but besides that I prefer perplexity to ChatGPT as well

Google is bad, but I've tried Perplexity. In fact, I have a premium account, yet I'm not enjoying the experience. It does, sometimes, surprise me about 1 in 10 times with its answers.

I'm curious, what percentage of your queries go to Perplexity?

I tried perplexity, and it is hard to see how it does a better job than Kagi (a paid search engine) for my use cases mostly involving technical enquiries.

Perplexity for the large use cases just feels like a wrapper around the web, and a not so good one at that.
