This has nothing on Alaska, where you can sign up to be called by the Highway Patrol when they find roadkill.

I saw that on YouTube think channel simple living Alaska. Middle of the night they got a call and trucked away a moose so lots of meat
WSJ was telling people that hunting and fishing are good ways to cope with inflation, yesterday: https://archive.ph/0NMQd
Seems like a Cathy Newman style summary of the article. “Oh so you’re saying I have to hunt now?!” when it’s just a rather uninteresting consumer piece about how a few people have reported to have changed some habits, and one of them eats more of the food they hunt now.
elsewhere, we were enjoying the notion of people new to hunting facing the challenge of breaking up an animal for the first time.
I worked with a guy who grew up eating elk burgers and didn't even try a cow burger until he was 18 (hmm, that sounds almost like bane). He would hunt in-season, bring the catch to a processor that took the bones and gave you back nice cuts of meat, and then used them all year. Probably saved a fair amount of money while also getting some exercise and fresh air.
