For once I'm glad that I was "forced" into a low trim model because I didn't want to give up the manual transmission

What did you get? Manuals are harder and harder to find.
A hatchback civic, which even for the 2024 model ostensibly has a manual available.

I got the 2019, and for being a relatively modest car, I've been pleasantly surprised by the performance and handling.

I've always enjoyed Hondas for the same reasons. I hope they keep it up.
