Corba existed in a world where there was no open source ecosystem. The whole thing was being steered by bad interests. The experience was being trapped by awful & obscure vendor systems.
There is a lot to be afraid of, even if interests are more genuine. Thats fair. Ambitious efforts often have myriad ways of going wrong.
But man what a worthwhile attempt. This idea of a runtime that can run many components from many places together is super compelling. That goal is bigger that preview1's goal of "is it at all possible to compile a single program", but that ultra lightweight security sandboxing doesn't get you much if you're only able to run one thing.
I deeply respect lemire, as a sharp smart wonk. It's sad seeing broadscale pissing disdain from someone who usually does such a good job bringing out data & examples & getting into details.
