When the story is "The Hubble is falling!" they call atmospheric drag an "unexpected phenomenon". So perhaps its no wonder they can't account for it when preaching Kessler.

"likely to stick around for centuries" would be a wonderful factor to take advantage when engineering long lived platforms like Hubble. Wonder why no one has?
