Heresy, I know :) But I genuinely think it can be beneficial for everyone.

Well, not quite everyone. Content made with the idea of marketing (even if not overtly an ad) very strongly tends to be lower quality and less useful.
The more of it that happens on HN, the lower the signal-to-noise ratio.
I see your point. My perspective is that HN is already a social media platform with a lot of noise already (AI, latest JS fad, non-tech news). But I've spoken to a lot of people who have produced something relevant for developers and haven't thought of actually sharing it on this platform, because they thought this place is only for highly-productive tech.
If you know some interesting project you can share it here and farm some karma. It's nice qhen the owner/developer appears in the comment section to answer questions, but it's not mandatory.
(As a sugestion, don't post two articles of your site the same day unless they are amazing.)

Indeed. My post is more about making people aware of how to raise awareness of products in a way they haven't thought of.

Fair enough, didn't plan to be honest. It's just I wrote a big post and realised I should split it into two to fit the length of article I tend to like writing (and reading).
There's more than enough of it on here already.
Sorry, I don't follow, more of what?
