Oh those foolish advocates for green energy, if only they were as wise as the Chairman and General Director of Koch-funded, climate change denying think tanks, then we'd have had this whole climate thing sorted out ages ago:

Rational arguments...but for a great many people, the #1 Priority behind their "advocacy" has nothing to do with protecting the earth, or the climate, or society's future. It's about boosting their personal brand and ideological cred, here and now, at minimal cost to their lifestyle. A shiny new EV is usually great for that. Vs. (say) going door-to-door before the election, helping to get some dear-friend-of-fossil-fuel legislator removed? "Hell no!" That would be real work - which is for sucker and losers and the little people.
No. Tax pollution. Pick losers, not winners.
