Confirming some of my most scared priors. There's very little hope for a united states when so many regions so want for purpose & role models & possibility.

Possibility by definition moves itself away, to where more is possible. I think fo Discworld, of the back and forth banter over whether the main character is lucky & has fortuned their way through things, or whether they are incredibly unlucky to end up still having landed on the expedition.
