The author here made a big mistake. Shockley also co-invented the transistor.
When you virtue signal these things are not important.
Even though I disagree with Shockley’s points, I don’t think we should do post mortem “kicking” like this. He was brilliant but everybody left him to create Intel and he was left with debt. (Mostly due to his own doing though, he was apparently insufferable.)
But in the end, if I remember correctly, his wife did not organize a funeral for Shockley because she expected nobody would come. A sad ending to a sad life.
