It might be comparable. For some, it might be worse, or at least quicker (given how much better we’d be today at automating the work of mundane evil). Never have understood why (especially, but certainly not only, the more optimistic and liberal) people tend to think the sort of ego that drives authoritarians won’t drive one to intentionally out-Hitler Hitler.
