One thing Ive noticed is font size has gotten smaller and Ive gotten older. It’s painful to read the financial times today, as well as other items I once enjoyed.
I've also gotten the impression of trends toward less-clear (but more "fancier") fonts, and lower contrast.

If they're trying to look artistic with text that nobody's gonna read, then it's a win.

Lower contrast saves on ink?
Maybe it does somewhere - but I've mostly noticed it on the web.
I've noticed the font size on my wife's kindle get increasingly larger every year. Certainly one of the benefits of e-readers!
This metric will perfectly form a golden cross with short-form view counts or YouTube view counts.
