I just got this update, and the design is utter trash. Beyond the fact that it doesn't follow any of the principles of UI design, it's also huge now with no way to resize. As always, Microsoft, you've outdone yourself. It actually manages to be a worse decision than your last worst decision. Why is it so hard for you guys to understand that we just want a simple start menu that shows ONLY the pinned items unless we click a button to show all. Not recommendations. Not everything. Not ads. Just what we put there. Do you have something against it? Why does MS put so much effort into creating a bad product when it would be so much simpler to create a good one?

Oh well. Keep shooting yourselves in the foot while Linux is quickly pulling up. A few more years of this and Windows may actually begin to become a thing of the past.
