About 90$ adjusted for inflation, using this tool:

https://data.bls.gov/cgi-bin/cpicalc.pl?cost1=50&year1=20010...

I paid $50 for launch-day Atari 2600 Pac-Man at a department store in 1982.

That's $177 today.

But at least I still have a plastic rectangle 44 years later. I'd lose a download code in a matter of months.

If they are anything like textbooks: "Your access code is only good for 90 days"
That does not take into account how much cheaper it is now with hand holding engines and assets shops. Not to mention games have more than 10 times the customer base now so the price should still go down.
Yeah if it has the amount of content people are expecting I'd say it'll be well worth 80 bucks
Especially considering the price of e.g. Mario Kart World.
What a disappointment that was. The open world aspect was neat but the whole game could have been an indie production tech wise.
No Man's Auto
Which would be $94.29 in today's dollars.
Sonic the Hedgehog 3 launch price was $69.99. in 1994.

That's $159.89 in today's dollars.

And that was only half the planned game until you bought Sonic & Knuckles with Lock-On Technology.
That was definitely worth the money. Can be used with the older games and did a few fun things with other games, plus you could build the Sega Tower of Power.
And this is why I roll my eyes when gamers complain about the cost of games these days - they have never been cheaper.
